About Banko Ceramics
Banko ceramics trace its roots back to the Edo period when the affluent merchant Nunami Rōzan established a kiln in what is now Mie Prefecture. Seeking to create objects that would withstand the test of time, Rozan engraved the seal 萬古不易」"Banko, eternal and unchanging” on his works. This seal became both the symbol and the name of the tradition. With limited natural resources, Banko artisans developed remarkable technical mastery to adapt to the needs of each era. This ability to innovate while honoring tradition has allowed Banko ceramics to endure for over 300 years. Today, it continues to enrich Japanese homes with its durability, understated beauty, and a quiet yet resilient spirit. Veux-tu une version plus poétique ou plu
